Goal Achieved! The Community Garden is a Reality
Date Posted: 10/11/2025
To all our generous donors and volunteers! We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to your incredible support, our community garden has been fully funded. Your generosity has exceeded all our expectations, allowing us to transform a vacant lot into a thriving space for living and growing. We have managed to prepare the soil and plant the first vegetables. Our team of volunteers has worked tirelessly, installing an irrigation system and building the first beds. Although we experienced a slight delay due to an issue with the irrigation system, we quickly resolved it with the help of a knowledgeable volunteer. The impact is already visible. Families and children have actively participated in the planting workshops. Their enthusiasm for learning and their amazement at seeing the first leaves sprout is truly inspiring. The garden is not just a place to grow food; it has become a meeting point that strengthens the bonds of our community. Thank you for helping us sow the seeds of hope in our community!
About the Cause
Posted by Centro de Desarrollo Integral Maranatha Alfa in Dominican Republic on 10/11/2025
Maria, a single mother, lives in a small apartment without access to fresh, healthy food. Her only option is to buy processed foods at the corner store, as fruits and vegetables are too expensive. Her son, Leo, suffers from health problems related to poor nutrition. This situation is a reality for many families living in urban areas who cannot afford adequate food. Our cause seeks to transform an abandoned space into a community garden. We will not only provide fresh, nutritious food, but we will also teach families how to grow their own fruits and vegetables. We will help them develop gardening skills and understand the importance of balanced nutrition. Through practical workshops, children and adults will learn how to plant, care for, and harvest. We hope that this project will not only improve the physical health of our community but also foster unity and knowledge, creating an environment of mutual support and self-sufficiency.

How the church will sustain the cause
We decided this was a critical need after speaking with residents and community leaders. Many expressed concern about the high cost of fresh food and the lack of healthy options in the area. Families often rely on convenience stores that only offer processed, nutrient-poor products. Additionally, we noticed a large, abandoned lot in the center of the community. As we spoke with neighbors, it became clear that this space could be transformed into something productive. The idea for a community garden emerged from these conversations, as it directly addresses both the need for healthy food and the desire for a safe and productive space for the community. This project is a response to what the community itself identified as its greatest need.
That's a great, important question! While your selected text in the Canvas focused on personal spiritual discipline, a church's vision for holistic child development typically encompasses four key dimensions.
