This project aims to preserve ancestral know-how while creating sustainable economic opportunities for young people and women: traditional loincloth weaving, a booming artisanal activity in Burkina Faso. With the growing craze for handmade cultural products, woven loincloths are regaining popularity in both local and international markets. However, many lack the skills or tools to get started. This project proposes to create a training and artisanal production workshop to meet this demand. We aim to train groups of 10 to 15 vulnerable young people and women in manual or semi-industrial weaving. The workshop will provide them with useful skills and a source of income through the sale of loincloths, which are highly prized in ceremonies and local fashion. The requested assistance will be used to: Acquire 10 traditional weaving looms Provide raw materials (yarns, dyes, tools) Set up a secure facility Organize training sessions led by experienced artisans Your contribution will enable unemployed youth and women seeking independence to become artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs, while contributing to the transmission of a precious cultural heritage. Each woven thread represents a rebuilt future, a valued culture, and a strengthened local economy. Together, let's weave hope and progress.

How the church will sustain the cause
Our church has considered sustainability mechanisms to ensure the project's continuity and impact even after external funding ends. Financial autonomy through production: The woven loincloths will be sold at local markets and cultural events. A portion of the income generated will be used to cover operating costs and renew training sessions. Creation of an internal solidarity fund: A symbolic contribution will be requested from trained beneficiaries once they begin generating income, to support the formation of new groups. This system of community reinvestment will foster a self-sustaining cycle. Volunteer mobilization: Several church members, including experienced artisans, have already expressed their willingness to volunteer to train and support new apprentices. Pastoral and community support: The church will continue to provide spiritual, emotional, and social support to the beneficiaries through prayer groups, counseling, and regular meetings. Local Partnerships: We plan to collaborate with local craft cooperatives and vocational training centers to ensure a lasting presence and expand opportunities. Through local production, community involvement, and self-management, the church will be able to maintain the project's impact over the long term, even without external financial support.
